"The Kid" gets some paint

We just received some pictures of a bike we completed and covered earlier in the blog.
The bike,Top Gas / Pro Mod SUZUKI. The client, John "The Kid" Gidcumb. The Kid handled all final plumbing and wiring and it came out quite nice. These shots are of the bike, IN his trailer, and some good shots will be posted soon.

Redirecting the blast!

We made a little ground on redirecting the NLR turbo outlet. Routing the boost plumbing low and over the charging cover, feeding the rear mounted throttle body.

Bullet Fiberglass of Fresno, Ca. Builder of world record setting Top Fuel Hydro hulls and driver safety capsules.

This was a project we were really excited to have been a part of. This completes the capsule puzzle for us. Being involved with prototyping and building some of the very first plugs, moulds and capsules to be ued in dragboat competition. This is one example of what makes HARDKORE PSYCHOLS so adept in multi media fabrication.

Liquid quarter mile time!

A sport we have been involved in on several levels for over 15 years is dragboat racing. Current project is a complete roll cage for a Top Fuel Hydro. This cage fits EXACTLY inside of the enclosed capsule with a hinged lid. Here's a pic of it finish welded.

FB-2 getting closer

We recently pulled our FB-2 from the welding table and set it in the floor for the first time the other nite. The differences we built into this bike were imediately discernible. Ergonomics and balance. A more comfortable bike should in theory, be easier to ride. As if a bike that's designed to cover the 1/4 mile in the low to mid 6 second range at over 210 mph could be easy to ride. Well I said,..."easy-ER".

Our first Funnybike was definitely a testbed for lots of ideas, some we kept and expanded on with this new incarnation. Our last bike had a 78-82" wheelbase, FB-2 is 76-79". Seat ht stays the same at 16". FB-2 will be different in that it will be a perimeter frame instead of a cradle style. This presented some challenges considering variables like , low tank ht, low handlebar ht, intake plenum and so on. Like the first bike, we are again using a one-off intake and throttle body arrangement. Positioning the dual 62 mm throttle body behind the cylinder block allowed us to build a plenum that is physically lower that the top of the valve cover. Current designs have the plenums over the valve cover, raising center of gravity, forcing tanks, bars and windscreens higher. Our new setup addresses those design shortcomings.

Coming pictures will show the drive system that will make this thing as comfy as it is!

More updates to follow soon.

Making progress on FB-2

We've made some headway on our Funnybike project. We'll now shorten the forks accordingly and complete final drive.
